Branding
I wanted the name of the business to represent it's sustainability values so I decided on Floris, a variation of the name Flora, which means; "all the plants from a particular place or particular time in history." The geometric style logo was a perfect contrast to my colourful and organic designs. I wanted to stick to black and white initially, so it would compliment my designs rather than distract from it, but over time, I've changed the colour of my logo to tie-in with my products or the season.
John Lewis Pop-up
I started selling through my website and at local markets during the pandemic. Going to markets was really insightful as I was able to meet customers and get feedback on my products.
After attending markets through the COVID-19 pandemic, I took the opportunity of hosting a pop up shop in John Lewis, in April 2021. I worked with the staff in store to create an eye-catching display of my products. In preparation for the pop-up, I'd designed some new products for the event, including my first collection of birthday wrapping paper.

Floris Christmas Pop Up Shop 2021

Cardiff Pop-up Shop
Later on in 2021 I opened my own pop up shop in St David's Shopping Center, Cardiff. I had the pop up shop for 5 months over Christmas.
I decorated the shop myself and I worked with a local company to create my shop's signage. On the night before the shop's opening, I hosted an event for influencers and local business owners to attend, this was a great opportunity to get feedback and spread the word about the new Floris Shop.
During this time I was able to grow my social media platform enormously. I started a TikTok account and gained 2000 followers, in the 5 months I was in my shop. My Instagram account also gained about 1000 followers.
Floris Website
My website initially started with a black and white theme but when I opened my shop I wanted customers visiting my website to have to same experience with my brand so I changed the colour scheme to match my shop. The beige/brown colours feel much more welcoming than the original black and white theme.
I use the homepage of my website to showcase my best sellers which changes each season as well as the header image. The homepage also displays some customer reviews Floris has received over the years.
At the moment the homepage is themed for Christmas.

Product Imagery for Floris' website
I use Adobe Illustrator to create my product images so the background of the image blends into the background colour of the website. Like Floris' branding, the website is subtle and clean to allow the products to stand out.

Product Images for Website
Product imagery for social media
I create the product imagery myself, using Adobe Photoshop to retouch any images where needed. I try and create variety in the style of imagery but I generally keep the backgrounds light to stay inline with the design of my website.
Some of these images are displayed on my website and used to advertise my business, for example, when I attend markets.
The photos displayed are from this year's Christmas collection which includes a range of wrapping paper, cards and gift tags.
TikTok
When I started my TikTok account, I was using it to advertise my shop in Cardiff. Since closing my shop I use my TikTok account to showcase my products. This Christmas season, I did a series on gift wrap ideas using my wrapping paper.
This video is an example of some of the TikTok content I created this Christmas, it received over 150,000 views on TikTok and grew my following by over 400. It also led to multiple sales on my website.
